HILLSTON BOYS FARM STONEVILLE AUSTRALIA

HILLSTON ANGLICAN FARM FOR BOYS STONEVILLE WESTERN AUSTRALIA

The West Australian borstal for boys, HILLSTON, operated for 3 decades from 1955 - 1984. Hundreds of teenage boys were trucked to this brutal facility, hidden in the Perth Hills away from the eyes of society.

As usual, the majority of the turnkeys were vile british immigrants, who delighted in harming and tormenting their pubescent Australian and Aboriginal captives.

The institution was quietly demolished circa mid-1990s - no-one objected, as very few knew of its 'secret' existence. The remaining fixtures of Hillston are the gymnasium and chapel - the chapel was built stone by stone by the sweat of the inmates.

I was 11 years old when I was first dispatched to Hillston, and spent most of the next 14months in solitary for rebelliousness. It was a despicable regime governed by equally henious and cowardly british staff.

A much more detailed semi-autobiographical account of my time in Hillston can be accessed here  http://survivinghillston.blogspot.com/2014/09/blog-post.html

Photos of the Hillston remains following its demolition:

  1. I bet mutts like La Puma, Henderson are looking over their shoulders. I'M 62 this year and was 13 when these two dogs beat the shit out of me. I was young then, now I can look after me self. Keep looking over your shoulders if your still alive. Then I'll piss on your graves when I find them.

    1. Hi there Unknown, thank you for your comment, you might be pleased to know John Alan La Puma died in 2016. The little fuck escaped justice by dying. There were 4 boys (including me) who were about to testify against the maggot for sex abuse and torture. The pigs were about to pounce on him when they realised he had died 6 weeks earlier. You can email me at fpanaia@gmail.com for more details.

yer i was one of the unfortunate who also had dealings with these so called human beings.I was mentally, physically & sexually abused & was made to believe it was only happening to me. I remember being king hit by a staff member at the dinning room table for not using the handle of my cup & a time wen the staff member hit me with both hands in sync to each ear so hard his watch uncliped. The fucked up daily cabin inspections with the dirty rags & oil to polish our floors the way in wich we were made to fold our clothes like perfect squared marshmellows they use to put the spirit level across them to make sure we got it right how they would run there fingers in every square inch of our cell looking for dust so if they found any they could punish us with heavy punishments. I was forcibly made to masturbate La Puma many times & he would smear his semen over my face after he was done i remember being sexually assaulted on my birthday & after the staff member had finished he gave me a cadburry block of plain chocolate & told me to get back to the compound & i was not aloud to share any chocolate with the other boys how ironic fucking animals. My name is Chris Davies but better known as Clicky Davies i would like to let the child welfare department of 1978 & 79 & also the West Australian government of the same yrs that Im coming for you because im tired of trying to keep everything i know inside its to hard but i realise now its harder to ignore it.So be prepared to mark in time as we did as 13 yr old boys you need to admit it, own up to it because you owe me 43 yrs of my life & im here now to collect

    3. Hi Chris (Clicky)

      Thank you for your message.

You can message me privately at fpanaia@gmail.com

Did you apply for REDRESS regarding the abuse? Both the State and Federal Governments offered ex-gratia payments to former Wards who were subjected to abuse.

      Do we know each other?

    1. Hi there Alwyn, thank you for your comment. I too attempted escape on many occasions and was always returned by the local pigs, and then to serve LOP for days. You might find my account of Hillston interesting at this link. Regards FP http://survivinghillston.blogspot.com/2014/09/blog-post.html

  8. My mum worked at Hillston. She was secretary for Mr Boyle, I think that was his name. My mum loved her job there. My mum was such a lovely person, I can’t imagine her turning a blind eye to mistreatment of anyone. I can’t even imagine what it must have been like to live at Hillstone. Thank you for sharing your most intimate history. Lizzie
